Counselling and Psychotherapy

Lorem ipsum dolor

Sometimes life is difficult, issues from the past and present can affect our lives at anytime leaving us feeling unbalanced. This may cause feelings of being unable to cope, putting tension on home and work life, strains on relationships or perhaps leaving you feeling uncertain regarding your future. Maybe you feel your problems are difficult to discuss with family or friends because you feel they may judge or misunderstand.

How does counselling help?

Counselling is talking therapy, which will give you time and space in a non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment to discuss and explore you problems. Talking to a counsellor can help you make sense of certain difficulties, thereby encouraging you to make positive changes and providing you with different tools or strategies, that you can use in your daily life. This can help increase your self awareness and confidence allowing you to find more balance. This work is usually short term.

How does Psychotherapy work?

Psychotherapy is an approach which is more in-depth. This means focusing on emotions and experiences as a child or young adult - as well as presenting symptoms and issues to help shed light on how these experiences have shaped who you are today. The idea is bringing these experiences from the past into the present so they can be fully processed and ultimately released. This is why Psychotherapy can be a longer process.

A fundamental part of Counselling/Psychotherapy is the therapeutic relationship taking place in the counselling room. I understand how daunting this whole process can be and choosing the right Therapist to work with is important. Please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to answer any of your questions or concerns. You are under no obligation to book an appointment with me.
